Vista College is currently hiring for an Academic Coordinator at our El Paso, Texas campus.
In collaboration with and under the supervision of the Nursing Program Director, the Academic Coordinator assists in the systematic delivery of the curriculum. The Academic Coordinator ensures consistent implementation of academic policies, appropriate delivery of courses and utilization of academic resources, and ongoing support for students and instructors. The Coordinator engages in faculty activities related to course development, evaluation, and revision and assists with regulatory/accreditation activities. The Academic Coordinator assists the Nursing Program Director to ensure the seamless integration and application of content from the classroom to the clinical setting. The Coordinator assume a teaching load as assigned to meet department needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Support faculty implementation of college and department policies and procedures
•Assist faculty with course content, learning activities, and student assessment.
•Provide guidance and instructional support in the use of academic resources for faculty in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings.
•Work with new faculty during the on-boarding and orientation process.
•Assist with faculty performance evaluations and observations in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings.
•Assist with the development and implementation of coaching plans.
•Collaborate with the Nursing Program Director to address faculty and student issues.
•Organize and implement program-specific new student orientation and nursing pinning ceremonies.
•Assist in the tracking of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
•Participate in nursing specific student retention meetings.
•Collaborate with the Nursing Program Director to promote retention efforts and student services to high-risk students.
•Participate in the development of nursing policies and procedures, student handbooks and other program information.
•Participate in the review and revision of curricula as well as other program evaluation activities.
•Participate as directed on the program specific Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) and Institutional Advisory Committee.
•Assists with requirements related to the Board of Nursing, TWC, COE, and other regulatory/accreditation agencies.
•Assume a teaching load as needed and assigned by the Corporate Director of Nursing to meet program needs.
•Adheres to all college policies and procedures.
•Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Vocational Nurse Program (Texas):
•Currently licensed or have privileges to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas
•Three years of nursing experience
•One years of teaching experience
•Demonstrate evidence of teaching abilities in subject area of teaching responsibility
