Responsible for overseeing the training, yearly competencies, scheduling and performance of
the department’s phlebotomists and registrars. Monitors pending and coordinates draws and assists with difficult venipunctures. Ensures adequate staff and leave supplies for the workload at hand. Performs COC, DOT drug screens, Breath Alcohol, DNA paternity testing along with actively filling in to assist with collection of inpatient and outpatient specimens. Ensures that collection procedures and testing is in accordance with CAP and Joint Commission standards and ensures that all is ready for inspections that occur. Ensures that all required staff have current state licensures and required competencies. Reviews all outpatient orders to check for accuracy in order entry. Creates a positive working environment for patients and staff.

Performs Point of Care (POC) PT/INR testing.

Assures quality care/service to patients
Assures all new phlebotomists are trained properly
Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures
