PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
The Simulation & Clinical Education Coordinator, is responsible to provide vision, leadership, organization and direction for simulation and nursing education. The primary objectives for the position include the development of educational curriculum for simulation for multidisciplinary operation, with a focus on critical thinking and clinical skills excellence.
Coordinates and manages the skills lab and simulation center. The individual in this position will assure the effective and efficient operation of the center, assess and provide for educational needs, and oversee the operation of high and medium fidelity technology to ensure safe and effective use of the simulation equipment
This position reports to the Blanchard Valley Director, Emergency & Trauma Services, and works collaboratively with the leadership across the organization.
Duty 1: Develops, implements, updates, and monitors simulation lab policies, procedures, use, and operation
Duty 2: Develops, presents, evaluates and refines scenarios for simulation experiences, utilizing role playing, props and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment
Duty 3: Develops and implements clinical simulation to meet best practice standards with a focus on critical thinking
Duty 4: Creates and maintains a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process
Duty 5: Performs data analysis to evaluate learning and satisfaction with the provision of services
Duty 6: Continuously updates and refines simulation experiences based on identified needs and to serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities
Duty 7: Maintains the lab inventory, ensures the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Monitors process for use, signing out, and movement of simulation lab equipment
Duty 8: Monitors and assures appropriate standards of lab cleanliness, provides for equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement
Duty 9: Trains instructors in simulation procedures, location and use of materials, and operation of equipment
Duty 10: Responsible for business development of the simulation lab, establishes community partners, develops income generated projects, seeks grants and other funding sources. Responsible for program development and growth.
Duty 11: Oversees simulation lab information and technology support
Duty 12: Formulates budget recommendations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Education or healthcare field
- One to three years of experience in simulation and skills lab teaching, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position

- A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver’s license you must obtain one within one year of your residency in the state) and you must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy requirements
- Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Current Ohio Licensure as a Registered Nurse or other clinical professional
- Master’s degree
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement.
